My name is Libby and I'm a qualified veterinary nurse and cat groomer based in Mapperley, Nottingham. Near Vets4Pets. I work and run Groomed To Purr-fection from my own grooming room in my home.

After grooming cats at work for nearly 10 years we have the knowledge and training to help your cat look and feel their best. Feliway and Pet Remedy plug ins are always on to help your cat feel relaxed.

"Don't cats groom themselves?"

No, cats do not groom themselves. They do lick themselves but their saliva does not clean their coat, infact, it makes it more greasy.

Grooming a cat professionally can solve many owner problems, such as shedding, dander, dandruff, scratching furniture, allergies, hairballs, matting, dirty ears, sanitation cleanliness and more.

If you find your cat has large matts, they can become very tight to the skin and become uncomfortable for them, in some cases even preventing them from moving freely. We are able to remove these to help your cat feel more comfortable again and help prevent them from reoccurring with regular appointments.

Wet bathing removes grease, oil, faeces, dead fleas, dandruff, and dirt.

Dry bathing or just shaving the coat off can't do any of these things.

Regular nail trims can help protect your cat from scratching itself, and your furniture and carpet.

"But cats HATE water! Why
would you bath them?"

With time and gentle handling, they can come to accept and even enjoy the unfamiliar bath. If your cat shows signs of stress, fear, or won't relax we will stop immediately. One way to calm the most aggressive cat is to put them in the tub and gently soak their feet & belly. Oddly enough, this can take them out of fight mode. We let them work through this fear, realise they are not in danger, and most cats calm and relax under the warm water and the massage while soaping.

A dry bath, or putting powder in their fur and brushing it out would be unacceptable for dogs or humans, so why do cats get shortchanged? Real water baths with soap are the ONLY way to de-grease and clean a cats coat, just like a dog or human.
